November 2007

I got nothing (aparently for the 2nd post in a row).

I am so boring this week, I'm sorry. I spared you the last few days of posts, because I honestly have nothing to tell you.

I DID finish my Jane sweater in time to wear it to the weirdest Thanksgiving ever...have I not posted since then? *runs to check*

How do I finish a sweater, my first finished sweater that actually LOOKS like it's supposed to (remind me to find the one I finished with no help from anyone so y'all can see the difference, and I can smack my forehead due to the Frankenstein seams) and not tell the entire world??

I will take photos this weekend so I can post them and y'all can revel in my fabulous sweaterness.

And I will take pictures of my Kauni-in-progress...I'm surprised I only had to pull out the 2-colour corrugated ribbing THREE DAMNED TIMES, but I digress. It looks fabulous, even though I have not yet finished one pattern repeat. :)

Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend!  I'll be working more on the dyeing so I can stuff the store for the holidays.

If y'all have any suggestions about the yarnz or the fibers, please feel free to tell me! :)

ETA: Here's something exciting - stand as far away as possible from me if the zombies come, that's all I'm sayin.

I got nothing but a headache.

Made the mistake of going to the mall this weekend.  I still have a headache from the screaming children, and the women loaded with shopping bags and trying to cram themselves ont the escalator in front of you and then stopping right as she gets off, and blocking the whole way....

Yet another reason why I don't care to leave my house during the Christmas season.

BUT! I did add the PayPal option to my Etsy store, so one does not have to send a check :)

go cougs!

First time in a while that Washington State beat UW! Woot!

go cougs!

happy turkey day!

I'm in the midst of a baking jag, but just wanted to say, I am very thankful for my blog friends :)

Enjoy today! Even if you don't celebrate Thanksgiving!

More Pictures, and No Witty Title

I've been playing Guitar Hero 2 in our game room here at work for the last hour, so you'll have to excuse me if I string together some rather incoherent sentences.

Img_1723 One more FO for the books (I think that brings my UFO total down to 34? I think?  And I just signed up for this, because I am mutant, but isn't this colour pretty? :)....this one is a "Dark Mark Illusion Scarf", knit in Cascade 220.

I would have knit this longer, if I had the yarn. I can loop it once around my neck, but it isn't very long.  And yes, I am adding fringe.  (DON'T LAUGH, yes, it's for me.  For those of you who are unaware, for the most part I am a very frills-free person.  No fringes, no flippy lacey stuff, no big gaudy flowers in my hair or pinned to my jacket.... so fringing a scarf is a bit out of character.)

Img_1724Here is (most of) my Monkey Sock Swap package.  I got Sleeping Lady (or Dragon?  I can't remember!) sock yarn, a cute sock blocker keychain, some chocolate, and....oh, Monkey Socks! (they're super fantastic, and I am actually wearing them right now :)  I also got some Caramel Monkey Nut Bread mix too, but I baked that and ate half of it, so there wasn't much left for a picture :)

(Side Note: Um...Natalie? What was the quarter in the box for? Did I miss something?)

And that is all of the time we've got today folks - I don't know how to set up a post for later, or I'd do one tomorrow...so you'll just have to live without me for a day or two. :)

Happy Turkey Day to all of you Americanas, and to everybody else, stay warm!  What's with the weather around here?

Photograph (the Nickelback version)

For some reason, I really like that song.

ANYWAY - as made obvious by the photos accompanying items on my Etsy store, I have ended the war between the laptop and the camera by being Switzerland.  And also by finding a card reader handily installed right in the side of my computer, so I can bypass the whole "WTF is the card reader, and "Now I've found the card reader, but WTF is the cord??", and "Where did the camera go?" game.

SO! Without further ado and much aplomb, I give you....PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE OF FINISHED OBJECTS AND SWAP STUFF.

Img_1725 Here is a now-finished (but not in this picture) Baby Surprise Jacket.  This is #3 finished...the other two are currently residing with the babies for which they were intended. (Apparently, today is Clunky Sentence Tuesday.)  The pink is a silk/wool blend (washable of course), which I ran out of before I could finish the blasted thing.  So the edging (and a cute 3 needle bind-off to seam the shoulders) is knit with a strand of Louet Gems and GGH something-something that I picked up from the BMFA Stash Sale, which I still have to tell y'all about, and may or may not ever tell you about.

Img_1726 Here is the beginnings of Mommy Dearest's (my mom) Christmas present.  She wanted me to knit her a poncho, and I considered it for about 8 1/2 seconds before I decided to spare her, and knit her something pretty.  (If she still wants the blasted poncho, I'll knit her one, but this is PRETTY!) also, it is a show of my current progress for Carrie who has entered into a friendly wager with me, since she is knitting this for someone for Christmas too.  (It's not really a wager, since we're both sending the other a skein of sock yarn :)

And that, ladies and germs, is all I have time for today, since I have to pull a Brazilian Visa out of thin air sometime in the next hour...."Hey Rocky! Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat!"  Ugh.

And we're live in 5...4....3...2.....

Go.  Shop if you'd like, but you don't have to.

if you have any comments, please feel free to comment away :)  I'll be posting a couple more listings tomorrow, hopefully!

Dewey Decimal System

Hey kids - coming to you live from the public library near my house!  (The wireless connection at home has suddenly and abruptly joined the phone in the land of the semi-dead)

MHP is safely ensconced with a book, and it is POURING outside, and I am writing descriptions for the yarns for Etsy.  That's right ladies and germs, I am FINALLY opening the Etsy shop.

Taking pictures this afternoon, hoping to have everything live by tomorrow afternoon.  Barring a trip to see "Mr. Magorium's Magic Emporium", everything will be up by 8pm tomorrw, so set your clocks and get ready to go!

I'll post again when I've got everything up :)

Hope y'all are staying dry! (And Natalie, I picked up my monkey package this morning at the post office, but haven't opened it yet!  I'll post pictures of that later too :)

It just might be a lunatic you're looking for...

Hi to everyone who hopped on over from Rabbitch....who lovingly referred to me as a "lunatic."

So.  In light of the referral, and because I like doing things like this, I present....

REASONS I MAY VERY WELL BE A LUNATIC

  1. I live in a house stuffed with wool.  And shoes.  Lots and lots of shoes, most of which I never wear.
  2. I have 38 UFOs (that I know of.  And UFO = Unfinished Object, for those of you non-knitters).  I finished two things last night, and somehow, I still have 38 UFOs.
  3. I spend huge amounts of time standing up against my kitchen counter, pouring colours on yarn.  Nobody except knitters understands why I do this.  Some knitters don't even get it.
  4. I coerced a friend to drive for 4 hours (one way) to go to a yarn sale.
  5. I have friends who are easily coerced into driving huge distances to go buy more yarn.
  6. I have a tattoo on my back of the words "SLAM BAM".  I got said tattoo after drinking for 5 days straight, and it is the name of my shotgun-wedding-derby-wifey, who I only knew for 4 days before "marrying".
  7. I basically have 3 jobs.  Administrative Assistant at Best Job Ever, Inc, Mom and Wool Colorer. They're all full-time jobs, pretty much.
  8. I love being scared.  Horror movies, roller coasters, thrill rides, etc.  LOVE.  THEM.
  9. I am considering getting back together with the man who dumped me so viciously that I was completely and utterly destroyed as a human being can get.
  10. I've decided I don't have enough on my plate, with the 3 jobs and the knitting and the watching movies and the desperately attempting to keep my house clean...so I've decided to take up burlesque.
  11. And last but not least, my good friend Rabbitch posted that I am nuts, so I get right on my blog and make a list of reasons why I am nuts.

So those of you regular readers...if you've got anything to add, please feel free to give a shout in the comments :)  And those of you newbies, you can call me crazy too.

It's a free-for-all, people....I'm bracing myself already!

ETA: For those of you who would like to see the yarns I have been working on, Peggy has some socks she worked up in my Ravenclaw colourway, and  Sarah has probably my very favorite yarn (I call it "The Birds", after the old-school horror movie) still in the skein here. Both ladies seem to be pretty happy about the yarns, so that gives me a bit of hope :)
